RED SCAR

RED SCAR is a deeply personal time-based work that explores the historical trauma carried through my family during Cultural Revolution. Drawing from stories passed down across generations, the piece reflects on the immense hardship endured by members of my family in the rural countryside of China, where political upheaval, starvation, loss, and the constant presence of death shaped their daily reality. Though more overtly political than many of my other works, RED SCAR remains, at its core, a personal historical narrative and an attempt to confront inherited memory, intergenerational trauma, and the lasting emotional scars left behind by survival.
