Fracture

Fracture is a personal comic that explores identity through the lens of a second-generation Asian American experience. Through sequential storytelling and introspective imagery, the project examines the psychological tension of existing between inherited cultural traditions and the expectations of contemporary American life. Caught between two worlds, the work confronts the impact of cultural alienation, racial slurs, internalized shame, and conflicting notions of belonging. Fracture reflects on the emotional and psychological struggle of navigating identity when both sides of one’s heritage can leave them questioning where they belong, and even who they are.
